Becoming a Disciple - Elder Neal A. Maxwell

Becoming a Disciple - Elder Neal A. Maxwell. https://www.lds.org/ensign/1996/06/beco ... e?lang=eng

I have read this talk by Elder Maxwell before, but it was brought to my attention again after reading Sister Michelle D. Craig's talk - Divine Discontent
https://www.lds.org/general-conference/ ... t?lang=eng
Elder Maxwell defines divine discontent -
It is left to each of us to balance contentment regarding what God has allotted to us in life with some divine discontent resulting from what we are in comparison to what we have the power to become. Discipleship creates this balance on the straight and narrow path.
I loved both talks. I find both talks uplifting and necessary. I never knew there were words to what I feel often ( divine discontent) when I'm trying to be more like Jesus Christ, but get distracted too easily. I love what Sister Craig says.
We should welcome feelings of divine discontent that call us to a higher way, while recognizing and avoiding Satan’s counterfeit—paralyzing discouragement. This is a precious space into which Satan is all too eager to jump. We can choose to walk the higher path that leads us to seek for God and His peace and grace, or we can listen to Satan, who bombards us with messages that we will never be enough: rich enough, smart enough, beautiful enough, anything enough. Our discontent can become divine—or destructive.
"Condemn me not because of mine imperfection,... but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been." Mormon 9:31
