LDS Missions

Post by Lily »

Do we have a repository for information on family members' missions? I think it would be helpful to have the mission name and general dates served. Dad's info would be particularly helpful since I've had people ask when he was in Germany. For example:

John Spencer Huntington: Germany West Mission, August 26, 1972 - August 26, 1974

My mission was originally organized as the West German Mission 01 January 1938. The name was changed to Germany West Mission on the 10th of June, 1970 and again only four years later, to the Germany Frankfurt Mission on the 20th of June, 1974, just two months before I left. I served my mission during the "cold war", prior to the fall of the Berlin wall, and at that time there were four missions in West Germany: the Germany North (Hamburg), Germany Central (Düsseldorf), Germany West (Frankfurt) and Germany South (Munich). Additionally, there were separate missions in both Switzerland and Austria. The landscape of the church's organization in that part of the world has of course altered substantially in the intervening years, as it has across the globe. That little stone, no longer little, keeps on a-rollin'.
