I've been put in this mood

Recent activity on the site, as well as the particular stresses of the day
here among your old folks at home, have put me in the following mood:

One of the verses of this plaintive old gem reads:

When I was playin' with my brother,
Happy was I.
Oh, take me to my kind old mother;
There, let me live and die.

All the world am sad and dreary
Everywhere I roam.
Oh, how my heart is cold and weary
Far from the old folks at home.

What musical metaphor would you care to post to describe your present state?

Thank you John, after two hours of crying this feels like a balm of Gilead.

For a Sunday Evening:

The famous Glasgow Orpheus Choir (the choir that sings in "I Know Where I'm Goin'")
and fine Scots choral hymn-singing it is, too. I love their pronunciation of "Blyoom"

Here's the lovely text by Reginald Heber:

By cool Siloam’s shady rill
How fair the lily grows!
How sweet the breath, beneath the hill,
Of Sharon’s dewy rose!

Lo! such the child whose early feet
The paths of peace have trod,
Whose secret heart, with influence sweet,
Is upward drawn to God.

By cool Siloam’s shady rill
The lily must decay;
The rose that blooms beneath the hill
Must shortly fade away.

And soon, too soon, the wintry hour
Of man’s maturer age
Will shake the soul with sorrow’s power
And stormy passion’s rage.

O Thou Whose infant feet were found
Within Thy Father’s shrine,
Whose years with changeless virtue crowned,
Were all alike divine.

Dependent on Thy bounteous breath,
We seek Thy grace alone,
In childhood, manhood, age, and death
To keep us still Thine own.

Did any of you know that I'm a huge Dolly Parton fan?
This kind of authentic American folk singing moves me.
Are you shocked?

I marvel at her use of understatement. What a kick.

"Zigeunerweisen" ("In the Gypsy Manner" or "Gypsy Airs")
by Pablo de Sarasate

I am so grateful to have lived in the world with the genius of this man
and Baryshnikov, Fischer Dieskau, Janet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, and their ilk.

I love watching his left index finger during the slow movement. hilarious.

Thanks for posting, Angela.
