"The pain...was incredible." I forgot about this video. Sad. And funny. And also sad.

Nothing gets you into the spirit of the season like old, atmospheric movies. Too often, in all the hustling and bustling, I think we lose the true meaning of Halloween. Our family is trying to do things to avoid getting too wrapped up in the commercialism of Halloween and really try to appreciate why we're celebrating this special time of year. We've already watched a few of the old monster movies: Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Wolf Man, etc.

I think they've really helped us keep things in perspective.

I find this helps me maintain the right perspective. If you skip to 2:40, you'll learn about the spirit of Halloween.

Can I just say that this movie defines Halloween for Bryn and I? As in, it is as much a part of Halloween for me as candy and costumes? It could also explain why Bryn was a pirate for like, 10 years in a row.

Bryn, thank you for that powerful reminder. I was very touched by Garfield's insights on this holiday season.

The true meaning of Halloween is about the joy of hoarding. Not just giving but receiving what we deserve for our well thought out costumes. Thank you children for bringing that spirit into my life again. :pirate:

So true. And Halloween is about coming together as a family. So I can trade you two smarties, a tootsie roll, and a starburst for your Snickers.
