Emma - Titania

Post by Edward »

POWERS
Emma's cells generate a cosmic bio-generated aura rendering her totally invincible; she is completely impervious to injury, pain, and disease. The aura also keeps all of her internal systems at their peak efficiency, and while she can sleep if she chooses, she does not feel fatigue. She possesses superhuman strength estimated at a lifting power of three and a half tons on the ground, and two while in the air. The aura also allows her to fly at accelerated speeds up to 175 mph.

BIO
Emma’s childhood was never normal. Born into a family of marvelous heroes, she was accustomed to the strange and the unusual, and all her life she had been told that her powers would one day reveal themselves. However, nobody suspected just how strange and unusual her experiences would be—nor that a cosmic life form from another world would change her development forever. When she was only six years old, Emma was given incredible abilities from a fantastically-powered alien visiting from a utopian world—powers that he never meant to give her.

The being known as Alquarangil had been sent to Earth to conquer it and then establish it as a vassal state to his homeworld's empire. However, Alquarangil was in fact a benevolent renegade at heart, and he had other plans in mind - rather than subject humanity to his planet's rule, he would instead teach mankind to use their strengths to create their own utopia, gifting them with knowledge and wisdom. He believed in the innate goodness of the human race, and saw in them a potential that he wished to nurture rather than conquer. However, he realized that he could not come to Earth without the potency of his immortal presence consuming the mortals who would surround him. Consequently, he sought a mortal host body in which he could house his powerful spirit. He soon found the perfect host in what he believed to be an infant that he felt would be the perfect tabernacle during his mortal sojourn. His reasoning stemmed from the fact that an infant would go unnoticed by others, while at the same time the body would give him years to adjust to the vicissitudes of human nature before fully maturing. He scanned the earth for an infant who dwelt in favorable, but inconspicuous, circumstances, and he found it in the comfortable and lovely environs of the Secret Kitchen, home base of The Family, where he believed such an ideal baby had been born. Furthermore, the tiny newborn he selected was clearly being tended by a young human girl who demonstrated an emotion he had never witnessed among his own race - it seemed to his mind simple, ordinary, and certainly not as glorious as the stoic passions predominant on his own world, yet there was a genuine sincerity to it which he could not fathom, and it intrigued him. In his heart, he even began to desire the experience of receiving such tender concern as demonstrated by the insignificant mortal attendant. Under these pretenses, and with his plan firmly in mind, Alquarangil’s spirit came to Earth and passed right through the little Emma, entering the body, not of an infant human, but of a stuffed duck - a toy.

As the duck suddenly came to life, housing now the spirit of an omnipotent being, Emma’s latent mutant powers unexpectedly reacted to the passing of his tremendous spirit through her moments before. The collision generated a sudden bio-activated aura which rendered Emma's cells totally invincible, while the gyrophysics of the aura granted her flight. At the same time, her beloved toy became an omnipotent, sentient, albeit diminutive, alien visitor. The incident also established an unusual psychic rapport between Emma and the duck; they found that they unexpectedly shared an open channel of thought through which they could mentally communicate with each other. This quickly proved to be vital to Alquarangil's designs while on Earth - he quickly discovered that though he could mentally communicate with Emma, the only sound his physical body could produce was a raspy “quack!” despite the impressive fact that his tremendous powers allow him to understand any tongue.

Shocked, but far from angered by his bizarre predicament, Alquarangil was in truth amused in the extreme, and he adopted Emma as his companion, translator, and guide to the planet Earth. In time, however, she grew to be more than just a companion - she became his closest friend. He soon grew to marvel at her sincere charity and the depth of her kindness, and he vowed that he would remain her guardian until the ends of time. In her he found a pure love which not even the stern majesty of his homeworld had possessed. And he soon began to acknowledge the fact that such feelings were not homely nor simple, but rather profound and complex. Emma was likewise thrilled by her "magical" new friend, and she soon set out to teach him everything she knew about her own world, and while she was after all only a child, Alquarangil found that seeing Earth through her innocent eyes gave him a clearer perspective than all the learning of his people had ever produced.

Sensing the massive importance of his presence on Earth, Emma brought Alquarangil before Mom-Lady, who then brought him before the Entity. The Entity proceeded to expound to the duck all of Earth’s perils and trials, and introduced him to the fledgling team of superheroes she and Mom-Lady were establishing. Pleased by the novelty of this absurd and wonderful world, Alquarangil assumed the name of Quackles, and joined the new team. He immediately set out to assess the world, and to measure the effect its people could and would have on the universe as its course led it deeper into the affairs of known space and time at an increasingly cosmic level. He gave Emma the name of Titania, and began to teach her how to use the powers he had never meant to give her.

As a result of Quackles' presence passing through her system, Titania’s cells began to emit an indestructible aura which renders her totally invincible. She can also extend that energy field to the objects she touches, even though her range was initially quite limited. The bioenergetic process is entirely natural, and she cannot in fact cease the perpetual emission of the force field. Because it is so concentrated, telepaths cannot access her mind, and her thoughts are consequently shielded from any kind of mental attack, even by the most powerful psychics. If she concentrates very hard, they may pick up faint thoughts that stray from the field, but they tend to be severely diluted by the "psychic static" her field creates. The unusual physics of the aura also allow her to propel herself off the ground and fly at rapid speeds, and they protect her from the extreme pressures and velocities of flight. Though she has retained her sense of touch, physical feeling now requires a dedicated effort, and she cannot truly feel objects in the tangible way which most people take for granted. In Titania's case, sensation requires concentration. Still, she works hard to master her powers so that she can once again enjoy the feelings of sensitivity that most never even have to think about.

Amidst all of her attributes, however, the greatest mystery to Quackles was always her future development. Eventually her natural powers would have to supersede the powers he accidentally gave her, and when they finally manifested, even Quackles was unsure of what would happen. He knew that, in the event, her powers may only have increased, but there was always the danger that it could cancel them out, even eliminate them - or her. His fears were soon abated when Emma began to reach womanhood, and her powers were enhanced to a dramatic extent.

Emma can now extend her aura over a distance estimated at an area of about 5000 square feet, though it is possible she can go further with extreme concentration. The effects of this are varied and unusual. For example, she can use it to shield individuals, thus rendering them invincible too, but unlike herself, normal humans require open channels in the aura to breathe, as a total shrouding would block air to their lungs if maintained for too long. In addition, the field prevents those with outward-projected abilities from using their powers - for example, Psion cannot reach mind nor matter when covered by the aura, and Fax cannot regenerate new selves. But Bryn can still move at speed, and Mr. Mastermind's intelligence is unaffected. It is purely a shielding ability, and while it may hinder the use of certain powers when employed, it is nonetheless an extremely useful gift that has saved many a life and structure.

Besides her new control over the aura itself, Emma also demonstrated new super-strength as she matured. She can now lift the equivalent of about three and a half tons, and can fly while carrying a little more than two. When airborne she is naturally prevented from lifting as much, as she has no solid ground against which she can lift. But the aura allows her to fly with a surprising amount of control even when carrying such extreme weight, and its gyrophysics counter the lack of friction she encounters in the air. Emma's speed was also augmented when her powers matured; she can now fly at speeds approaching 175 miles per hour.

Although she is still young, Titania is a fearless and dedicated super-heroine. She is one of the most active and dynamic members of the Family, the powerful team of superheroes which is in fact the only family she has ever known. Having been raised among some of Earth's mightiest individuals, Emma has become incredibly confident in her abilities, and she maintains one of the highest voices of authority on the team's roster. This has raised doubts from some members of the team, who question the wisdom of one so young despite her impressive record of experience. Yet though she has much to learn about the powers she now possesses, she is eager to learn and very bright. She is impulsive but level-headed, and her courage is astonishing to those unfamiliar with her character. Titania has demonstrated time and again that though she may be young, she is truly invincible, not only in body, but in character and spirit.

I'm not Quackles' servant. Translator, yes. Friend, yes, but not servant.
So, I have already receved my natural powers and I'm consulting with Quackles and Mom lady on how to properly control and use them. Until I'm done with this training my powers are to remain confidential, and will not be revealed at this time.

Item 1: Servant vs. Friend - fixed.

Item 2: New power shebang - OK, here's the deal. You can't add another power even close to as big as FREAKIN' INVINCIBILITY! I mean, you're invincible!!! Really, even the added flying part just goes way over. Keep it low key or you're just gonna look like the whiny kid who wants to shoot lasers and fly and run supersonic fast and throw fire and spit noodles and whatever. Only one or two simple powers. And is Mom really being that helpful? Just curious, because frankly I think Quakles is conspiring to make his little precious more powerful that is her due. You never can be too sure with those intergalactic waterfowl . . .

Mercy I haven't updated this in ages! Emma and I clarified her new abilities some time ago; it centers on her ability to project the aura with far greater range and control (and the resulting effects of that extention); the addition of enhanced physical strength; and the effects of the aura on her physiology. I will get her Bio edited tomorrow.

EDIT: Okay, I fixed this one a bit, but I am not sure on a few things. I estimated how much Titania can actually lift and how fast she can fly, and figured that she could lift more on the ground than when flying. Since her main power is the invincible aura, I didn't want to have her flying at supersonic speeds, nor make her insanely strong - I figure that, as secondary powers, they should be impressive, but not attention-getting in the extreme. Any alterations can be edited in easily.
