Miss Hickory
Miss Hickory
Miss Hickory by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey - 1947 Newbery Award Medal Winner. This book was actually to be reviewed on June, oh well. Miss Hickory is described as a doll with a hickory nut head and apple wood body, who was left behind when the family decided to go to Boston during the winter. Miss Hickory's winter adventures with animal life of field and forest are not only enchanting but this simple story has depth. Age recommendation: 7 to 9 years old, there is nothing offensive in this book. September's book club selection is - Trumpeter of Krakow by Eric Kelly - 1929 Newbery Award Medal Winner.
"Condemn me not because of mine imperfection,... but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been." Mormon 9:31
