Organization Books

Post by Tuly »

I have a fascination for organization books. I will try to post the past books I have read in the past, in this post.
I just finished reading, Project Organization by Marie Ricks. This is a quick read book, and like most non-fiction books some of the stuff in this book where good and other parts of this book, I could do with out. I liked her chapter on Teaching Your Family To Finish, she said "I have seen the inner, private lives of many people. They are wonderful, usually hardworking, and interested in finding answers to their organizational needs.
But I also see a recurring challenge, a bad habit that many of us have. We "purchase, use and push," meaning we push aside things we're finished with, instead of putting them where they need to go. In the really bad cases, our debris, treasures, and junk slowly moves outward from our walls, encroaching on our home and our lives. We purchase food and sundries (or sometimes even a larger, more expensive item like a television), and unpack the items and begin to use them. We discard and push to the side the plastic bags our purchases come in, the boxes and packing TV is shipped in, and sometimes even the leftovers and fast food restaurant containers." Her solution, "Finish putting candy wrappers in the trash when you are done with your treat. Finish putting the groceries and shopping bags away when they are brought in the house. Finish throwing away the packaging when a large item is purchased, the newspaper is read, or a soda pop enjoyed."
"Condemn me not because of mine imperfection,... but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been." Mormon 9:31

it's good to throw unneeded things away.
so let it be written... so let it be done.
