Multiplatform Books

Post by Tuly »

Multiplatform books are books with accompanying videos, online games and chat forums to motivate readers to believe it or not read more books. An example of this new genre is the 39 Clues series. I just read Book One of The 39 Clues - The Maze of Bones series by Rick Riorden (each book in the series has a new author). I quote a description of the book from http://www.booklistonline.com/booklinks
By applying map reading, geography, and social studies skills, the 39 Clues series offers an interactive opportunity to follow the journeys of Amy and Dan Cahill. Similar to CD-ROMs Jon Sciezka's Trucktown series' Web site is a unique opportunity for younger struggling readers to read along with the books and then play games with the books' characters. All of these supplemental tools, McVerry says, offer students the chance "to join a community of readers."
The book was a beginning mystery book with some suspense. This book can be read by any one over 8 - years old. I did not check out their website http://www.the39clues.com
"Condemn me not because of mine imperfection,... but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been." Mormon 9:31
